OUR STORY
A Passion for Quality
Born to a family of riders, Katy had no choice. She fell in love with the horses and the training process. Starting in her youth as a hunter-jumper competitor, in local, regional and national shows. Katy purchased her first horse on her own at the age of 15. She then competed and trained with a high level Grand Prix and performance horse barn in Los Angeles, importing high end horses, and traveling the west coast's show jumping circuit.
Katy became Assistant Trainer and Pony Club instructor for a 4 star international 3-Day Eventing performance barn in Newport Beach, CA. This fast pace and high stress environment provided Katy an environment to grow a name in the eventing world, while managing a high level competition barn. "I learned veterinary skills, nutrition, conditioning and behavioral training, while also riding up to 8+ horses of varying talents, abilities and strengths, followed by teaching clients ranging in levels and goals. It was an exciting time in my life."
Over time, Katy became recognized as a top competitor in the Eventing world. Competing in the FEI with her mount Ballingowan Ginger. The pair won many top placings , winning the Galway Downs International Preliminary division, 4th at Twin Rivers 2* Event and 5th in the nation for the USEA's Preliminary Rider of the year. Katy also earned her USDF Bronze medal, along with several 1st place scorings in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th level dressage. Katy now is developing upper level talent to complete in the FEI for USDF. "Dressage has become a fascination and somewhat of an obsession. The time it takes to develop the kind of talent needed for the Gran Prix has captivated me. I work very closely with top Gran Prix trainers to aid the Eventing, but also solely for my personal GP prospects."
Today , Katy is focusing on bringing up a select number of imported horses for competition, as well as a number of talented amateur riders . "Our farm is focusing on training young equine talents for the American market and . We also enjoy sharing the training process with our clients." The team brings classic training technique to their equine partnerships, with a modern touch.
